As professional fire performers with well over 15 years experience, we know what it takes to make quality fire equipment. We pride ourselves on the quality, durability, function and design of all our products. We don't sell anything that we wouldn't use ourselves and all our products are tried and tested by both ourselves and our local fire community. If they're not happy, neither are we!

In 2006, Angus and I created Fyredanz from our individual years of performance experience. In 2007, due to popular demand, Fyredanz expanded into Fyregear...and, here we are today!

That's the condensed version of our story. The interesting stuff is in the details...

Angus had been performing for years before I met him. He got his start in his early 20's, with mates, performing in nightclubs. He spent the whole of his 20's doing crazy things with fire on the stages of both London and Johannesburg.

I, on the other hand, got my start at Burning Man (www.burningman.com). In 2002, while participating in my first burn, I was so inspired by the amazing fire performers at Burning Man, that I made it my mission to be one of them. A lot of backyard twirling followed and in 2003 I went back to Burning Man with my first set of fire poi.

In 2005, I returned to Australia after living in the England for 3 years, and by chance discovered the Perth Fire Group. It just so happened that the PFG was having a workshop weekend and it was here that I met Angus - a handsome guy, with a crazy look in his eye, weird equipment and a performance style unlike any other.

A year later, we were performing together as Fyredanz and falling in love.

It was at this point that Fyregear began to evolve. At almost every show someone would ask where we got our equipment from, either because it was unique or well made. Soon we started to receive requests to manufacture equipment for not only our friends but others we met along the way. It was this demand that drove us to create our product range.

In 2006, Burning Man again played a role in shaping our lives by inspiring Angus to venture into the world of gas flame effects. Since then, Angus has been manufacturing gas flame effects for fire and street performers. The most surprising and impressive of these would have to be the flaming bagpipes owned by Cam McAzie - The Badpiper!

With regular fire shows, including performances in China, Malaysia and America, as well as manufacturing fire equipment, we still somehow found the time to get married! And there was simply nowhere more appropriate than Burning Man! In 2008, we tied the knot on top of the Shiva Vista project surrounded by 16 massive flame throwers and many wonderful friends. We are forever inspired and endebted to the people of Controlled Burn, Dave King and Crimson Rose for making that day so special.

The Wedding

In 2009, a year on from the wedding and having scaled back our performance schedule, we finally launched this online store! It took 18 months and many false starts to get this baby up and running! But...finally...here we are!

As you can see we are real fire folk. So when we say the products are of great quality, durability, function and design, it's not just a sales pitch, we really do know what we're talking about. We want to bring you the same fun and joy through our fire equipment that we have had the pleasure to experience over our years of playing with fire. And who knows where it will take you....maybe, like us, it will allow you to travel the world, share your passion with others, be part of an amazing community of fire artists, meet the love of your life, and even, one day, make equipment that brings the joy of fire to others!
